The app for your phone, and the server side for your computer or NAS.

Android app

The app for your phone: movies, shows, music and photos from your servers.

  • Android 7 and newer
  • Jellyfin and Navidrome / Subsonic
  • Coming to Google Play

Version 0.3.16 for Android phones, 67 MB. If the phone warns about an unknown developer, tap More details → Install anyway. If it asks, allow installing apps from your browser. The app tells you when a new version is out; it installs over the old one, and your servers and settings stay.

Android Auto shows an app installed from a file only after you turn on Unknown sources in Android Auto’s developer settings.

Server for Windows

OwnMediaSetup.exe installs Jellyfin, adds your folders, puts in the OwnMedia plugin and, if you like, opens the server to the internet. At the end it shows a QR code for your phone.

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit
  • Administrator rights, internet during setup
  • Already have Jellyfin? Only the plugin is added

Version 0.3.13, 26 MB. SHA-256: bd54e4d5ef11a54a8e6793ba451914f8c728282d1a8a18dbfedd86e2522d3d50

The installer isn’t digitally signed yet, so Windows may say “Windows protected your PC”. Click More info, then Run anyway.

NAS and Docker

Run Jellyfin 12.1 or newer in a container, then add the OwnMedia plugin catalogue in Jellyfin: Dashboard → Plugins → Manage Repositories → +.

What the plugin does

“Homeplay Backup” is the server side of OwnMedia: it receives the photo backup from phones, makes invite links for friends and shows the page with the QR code for connecting a phone. Its code is open, under the GPL (source). New versions show up in Jellyfin by themselves, under Plugins.
